Tomorrow we begin our defence of the Halford Hewitt and have a rather different team. The reasons for the changes are :

1. Ed Richardson is very unwell. He starts his treatment for Leukaemia in a

week or so and we all wish him a speedy and complete recovery.

2. Colin Jones has a badly damaged wrist. Sadly it has not responded quickly

enough to treatment to allow him to play.

3. James Horn has turned pro.

Our team is therefore comprised of the following pairs (in no particular order) :

Geoff Clay (Captain) and George Taggart

Richard Partridge and Christo Lloyd

Jonathan Hubbard and John Spurling

Bryan Ingleby and Peter Saggers

Jason Foster and Nick Kemp

Nick has a dodgy back and will I believe play only once per day which means, hopefully, that our travelling 11th player, Mike Hall, will play a lot of golf!

It's a very good team and, if they play their best golf, they are quite capable of retaining the trophy.

THE DRAW : We are playing at Deal throughout the competition.

Our 1st Round Match is against Downside at 10.55 on Thursday.

If we win that, we have our next match at 10.20 on Friday - with another match at 3.30 if we are still going.

On Saturday, if we are still alive, we play at 12.30 - and if we reach the Sunday we would play our Semi-Final at 8.30 - with the Final taking place at 2.30.

It will be an arduous few days and the team will value all your support if you can get to Deal.
