Another very enjoyable match against Old Cranleighans where, at last, the match manager's youth policy came through & proved successful. I felt it was very much the youngsters of Arsene Wenger (Charlie Davies)
against Roman Abramovich's ( Kemp is about to retire so must be very wealthy !) more mature aristocrats ( not sure that Old Cranleighans have ever been called aristocrats before !). Perhaps I didn't exaggerate youth
quite as much as Arsene but to have only 2 players just over 50 must be rare these days ! Sad thing is that once again a youngster failed to arrive on time. Last year our Secretary will remember that his partner joined him
on 10th fairway, whilst this year we had a complete "no-show" from our anticipated youngest player on parade (or not!)

Anyway it inspired Rob Kemp, playing on his own, to halve a very hard fought match where he birdied the last to go round in 3-over par. In the other 3 matches, as the results demonstrate, the OT pairs' games appeared to be much more on song than our opponents.

An excellent lunch was then had before those that decided to play all day - Ashdown as anyone who has played it knows is a challenging physical experience & proved too much for a few OCs who felt that one round was
sufficient - ventured out again. One foursome match & one 6-some with 2 OT pairs playing Tim Kemp & Wally Triggs. All OT pairs prevailed redressing the balance of a match which history had shown that we struggle to win.

It's a very friendly relaxed match which is always enjoyed by all those that play. Ashdown was, as ever, very welcoming, the course was in good nick bearing in mind the excessive amounts of rain recently suffered and the weather was very kind to us. We are considering increasing the numbers in this match, so would anyone interested in playing next year, please contact me via the website.
