I don’t think anyone can remember anything but perfect weather for every summer meeting we’ve had at
A reasonable-sized, though not bountiful, field assembled early for bacon rolls, and with a two tee start and quite small numbers, all were off by 8.45 am, which happily assured enough time , even tho’ once OTGS members are to be found with a card and pencil in hand it seems they like to take great care, for all to have sufficient time to enjoy the fulsome NZ lunch.

The smart money was being placed ahead of the off in the afternoon foursomes on the on-paper, good-looking combinations of Williamson & Golding-Wood, Marle & Sumner F, and Berkeley & Crates. Thus it proved, with an impressive 42 points scored by William Marle and Francis Sumner, three ahead of the predictably competitive Neil Williamson and
New Zealand GC in June, with the course in great condition and pretty much completely to ourselves, and with the care extended to us by the NZGC secretariat, is hard to beat, and a pretty good day was, I think, had by all.
