OTGS v Royal Ashdown Forest Golf Club on Sunday 5th July

This was a most enjoyable match and we were generously entertained by the home club.
It is a hard battle to play against any club on its home turf and in a tight match we were just eased out of both the morning and afternoon matches, losing 3/2 each time – a match result of 6-4 in Ashdown’s favour. The weather was hot but mercifully the day marked the end of a very hot spell indeed and a pleasant breeze kept us sane.
Hugh Holloway treated us to the sight of his very smart OTGS tie which he had worn on just two occasions in 15 years. We hope to see the evidence of more beer or gravy on it in future by virtue of his playing in more of our events! Hugh Evans sported a very fine bow-tie in OT Cricket Club colours and the Hon. Secretary completed an arduous and foolish spell of playing 162 holes in five days in a heat wave.
