A well-balanced OT side confidently took the morning honours on a pleasant spring day although the second group unassuredly opened their account with a rare ten stroke half (just warming up!) on the opening hole. The closest match was the last to go off involving a titanic battle which Peter Morris and David Golding-Wood managed to clinch on the 18th to put us n the lead 3-2 and enjoy a well earned lunch. Never to be written off the Shirburnians came storming back in the afternoon session winning 2 of the matches 4/3 and one by a possibly unprecedented 8/7. I cannot castigate those of us responsible as your captain's tally for the day was "nil points" (apologies!!). We picked up one win and a half after lunch resulting in a most enjoyable but slightly frustrating overall loss 5 1/2 4 1/2
