After approx. 50 years, of happy residency at Hankley Common, we were advised that the weekend demand by members no longer permitted us to carry on there with a morning and afternoon format. With both sides keen to retain the format the fixture (we owe a big thank you to Davd Hubbard for his help and influence) took up new residency at the Berkshire which proved more than a worthy alternative.
Played on a beautiful late spring day the OTs took no notice that their average handicap was 14 against the OS at 8, and came in with a healthy 3/2 advantage at the lunch break - and some lunch. Extricating some of the OS from the dining-room was a minor problem (we think they were nervous of re-appearing) but a close encounter ensued with the last matching halving to secure a richly deserved victory
It was a splendid day with a hearty endorsement to continue this most enjoyable fixture at the Berkshire for many years to come
