Having come second to the Old Wellingtonians in the two previous encounters it was good to put it over them this time in the quest for the Gracey Cup.
Miles Connell and Richard Gracey had an exciting match against Michael Power and David Hurst-Brown winning on the final hole. Miles was in fine form, drivng particularly well and chipping in for an eagle 2 on the first hole to give the OTGS a flying start.
Neil Williamson and Robin Berekeley played steady golf against Colin Mackinnon and Martin Gairdner, building up a comfortable lead. The OWs rallied fiercely, winning three holes in a row before going 1 down at the close.
Our third pair of Richard Roberts and Richard Dresner won their match in most convincing style against John Whittaker and Gavin Eadie. Richard Dresner hit huge drives and Richard Roberts slotted putts from all over the greens, proving too hot to handle on the day.
Patrick Gracey and David Roberts had a real battle against the OW bottom pair of Alex Stuart-Bamford and Andrew Robertson. The lead kept changing regularly and the Wellingtonians holed some seriously long putts to gain a half at the final hole.
RESULT : OTGS 3 1/2 beat OWGS 1/2
